Golden Shell Residence - Trou d'Eau Douce

My recent stay at Golden Shell Residence in Trou d'Eau Douce was an absolute delight. I stayed for a week while exploring the beautiful island of Mauritius. The hospitality of Aki and his family was exceptional, making me feel like part of their family. The residence is conveniently located right in the heart of the small town, with easy access to local shops and markets. Aki went above and beyond to arrange an incredible parasailing trip to Ill aux Cerfs, which was a highlight of my stay. The top-floor accommodation was private and comfortable, with a balcony offering stunning views. I also appreciated the availability of a market on the ground floor, making it convenient to buy groceries. Lastly, the owner's wife gifted me with these amazing intense sticks that I couldn't find anywhere else in town. All in all, Golden Shell Residence exceeded my expectations and I know I've made lifelong friends.

For dads, it would be great to have a designated play area for the children within the residence.

nothing too much trouble, everything was perfect. we chose this place for convenient location near to mauritius, and bus stops, and restaurants, and reasonable prices. the room was bright and cozy with balcony, we loved the stay.

The location is fantastic, just a short walk to the public beach where you can catch boats and the staff is always attentive and friendly.

the venue has incredible setting close to many restaurants.

The bathroom here is not clean.

No complaints whatsoever, didn't want to leave. We had a really really nice stay in Trou d'Eau Douce not far from cheap and good restaurants, and the Golf Course and Ilot Mangenie. We loved the venue and its particularly good setting. In fact, it was located on the coler side of the island which was great.

Extremely friendly hosts. Superb location. Spacious, clean, nicely furnished rooms. Well-equipped kitchen. Helpful advice on local transport and places to visit. Centrally located with easy access to buses and taxis. Plenty of shops and eateries nearby. Comfortable residence.

Nothing to dislike.

Stayed at a nice apartment with a big TV and a dining table. Had a great time snorkeling, windsurfing, and shopping at Flacq. Close to the airport and enjoyed dining at the restaurant.

Who needs dry cleaning and laundry facilities when you can have moldy-smelling rooms and be locked out at 2 am?

Stayed here with my family, everything was amazing, and it was nice in the centre of the town.

We had a fantastic stay at Golden Shell Residence! the family welcomed us warmly, even before the official check-in time. They went above and beyond to make our stay enjoyable, driving us to various places at an additional price. They even arranged the ille aux cerfs trip for us. the hosts were incredibly helpful and friendly, and we really appreciated that they did our laundry. the location was perfect, right in the middle of a charming town with lots of little shops where we could buy groceries. It was a great opportunity to experience the local life. We are also grateful to the owner for giving us a pack of those wonderful intense sticks that we loved and couldn't find anywhere else in town. Cons: Don't have any issues at all. 😊.

Friendly and cute family atmosphere. The owner treated me to delicious dinner meals and a strong volcano drink, making me feel like part of the family. The rooftop area was a great place to relax with plenty of sunrays. Great location, just a short walk to the main beach. They have a private garage for parking. The room was clean, quiet, and had all the necessary amenities. The staff was friendly and helpful.

One drawback was that the water wasn't hot and the wifi was a bit slow. considering all the positives, I would still recommend this hotel.

The value for money at the hotel was great and the room was comfortable and well-maintained. The location was convenient, with shops and restaurants nearby, and it was a good base for exploring the area. They were really nice too ensure our stay was comfortable and enjoyable. The air-conditioned rooms were a lifesaver in the hot weather. the location was convenient with plenty of restaurants and markets nearby.

The owners were really kind, always willing to help. The room was spacious and clean, with a balcony facing a calm street. We had parking for our scooter inside the property, which was a convenient perk. the location was great, close to restaurants and a supermarket. One more advantage was the possibility to organize tours and car/scooter rental, making it easy to explore the area.

The price of their organized parasailing was quite expensive compared to other options on the island, so we opted to find a cheaper deal elsewhere. Additionally, they were unhappy about me bringing a guest upstairs, which made me feel a bit unwelcome.

Who needs a refrigerator in the room when you can just go to the bigger rooms? So convenient!
